Campsis radicans ‘Flamenco’  FLAMENCO TRUMPET VINE

(Zone 4)  Large bright red flowers with an orange center in August and September.  Very vigorous.

 

Clematis / Virgin’s Bower

Very popular vine with large showy blooms up to 6-8 inches across. Flowers are available in many colors and bloom times. Climbs by wrapping its petioles around a support. Plant in a well-drained site with organic soil. Vine loves sun, but the root zone needs to be shaded.

 

Clematis ‘Dr. Ruppel’ DR. RUPPEL CLEMATIS or VIRGIN’S BOWER

8-10 ft. (Zone 5) Flowers May, June, and September.

Clematis ‘Henryii’ HENRYII CLEMATIS or VIRGIN’S BOWER

8-10 ft. (Zone 5) On trellis or similar support. Best in full sun, and well-drained soil. Mulch or shade root zone. Flowers June and September, large white with brown anthers. Very nice variety.

Clematis 'Jackmanii' JACKMAN'S CLEMATIS or VIRGIN'S BOWER

8-10 ft. (Zone 5) On trellis or similar support. Best in full sun, and well-drained soil. Mulch or shade root zone. The most profuse blooming dark purple Clematis. Flowers June-July and September.

Clematis 'Nelly Moser' NELLY MOSER CLEMATIS or VIRGIN'S BOWER

8-10 ft. (Zone 5) On trellis or similar support. Best in full sun, and well-drained soil. Mulch or shade root zone. Pale pink flowers with a red bar. Flowers June-July and September.

 

Clematis terniflora (paniculata) SWEET AUTUMN CLEMATIS

10-20 ft. (Zone 5) September-October this plant produces scented white flowers that are smaller than other varieties of Clematis.

Hydrangea anomala subsp. Petiolaris CLIMBING HYDRANGEA

(Zone 4) Foliage is a rich dark green color. Large white fragrant lacecap-like flowers appear in late June or early July and bloom over an extended period of time. Climbs by aerial rootlets and will grow in sun but prefers partial shade.

Lonicera sempervirens ‘John Clayton’  JOHN CLAYTON HONEYSUCKLE

3-6 ft.  (Zone 4)  Compact vine with pale yellow flowers.  Mildew resistant.

 

Lonicera sempervirens ‘Major Wheeler’  MAJOR WHEELER HONEYSUCKLE

6-10 ft.  (Zone 4)  Blazing red and gold flowers all summer into fall on this mildew-resistant vine.

 

Wisteria macrostachya ‘Blue Moon’  BLUE MOON KENTUCKY WISTERIA

(Zone 4)  Beautiful Wisteria with lavender-blue flowers.

 

Wisteria frutescens ‘Amethyst Falls’  AMETHYST FALLS TREE WISTERIA

(Zone 5)  North American native vine with showy purple-blue flowers.  Blooms in late spring and sporadically through the summer.  Likes full sun and regular feeding and watering.
